NEW WEBSITE FORMAT UNDER CONSTRUCTION... LATEST NEWS: CAM RADIO NET PRIMARY FREQUENCY HAS CHANGED. WE HAVE MOVED, AFTER EXTENSIVE TESTING, TO 3770 KHz ON 75 METERS. THE 3820 KHz FREQUENCY WILL REMAIN FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT WISH TO MOVE DOWN FOR ONE REASON OR ANOTHER. THIS DECISION WAS TOUGH TO MAKE AND I APOLOGIZE TO ALL THOSE AFFECTED. |

I want to personally apologize for the decision (mine) to move the round table to 3770 KHz. You can expect an email explaining my decision and welcome you to join us if you can...I will see to it, every way possible, to help you extend your knowledge and pass the required element FOUR certificate so you too can be an "EXTRA" special Cam Radio Member. 73...and regards, WEBMASTER K3HKR -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We have recently gone down the band... CAM RADIO EXTRA draws International DX !! Recent attempts to organize International DX is beginning to show signs of a connection. "We have had a few sparks of interest on 3770 KHz" The frequency has been visited by European stations including the always popular EI6S, George from Ireland. The frequency however, has it's quiet nights but according to K3HKR, we will continue to develop our CAM RADIO EXTRA NET for use when the cooler weather returns and the band opens wide into Europe and beyond. In spite of critics who believe the 3770 KHz net has removed itself from the 3820 KHz original net, this is simply not true. Yes it does leave some operators to wonder, but it also adds incentive to the program. Get your EXTRA ticket now !!! CAM RADIO NET was developed because interest is lacking in the hobby and FACE BOOK type websites on the Internet are very successful. The use of chat rooms and blogs has been a road block for youth. "They simply do not understand radio and have no desire to take classes or join the OLD MAN hobby." K3HKR continues "The gap between youth and the aging "HAM" operator will never be resolved as long as ARRL continues to operate more like AARP, and less like the 21st century." This is not FINE BUSINESS by any stretch... CAM RADIO NET must continue to evolve. That means we must work on our presence everyday. It is the future that we look into and if we can spark some youth into visiting us or watching us on the air, we can generate new voices for HAM RADIO. Remember that we only stream our video...we still require the audio remain where it belongs...on the air !!! Beginning in September, CAM RADIO NET will site it's target to a higher degree. A new website with many of the same features, will extend into 2011 with a goal to expand and improve the fellowship that was expected every night on 3820 KHz. Please continue with us in this natural progression. CAM RADIO NET is something "EXTRA" special and want you to feel welcome here. NET COORDINATORS: The rules require a 10 minute ID...or do they ?? According to the FCC, we must identify our station every 10 minutes. We try to maintain that ID time, but many issues force us to be more considerate than politically correct. The NET COORDINATOR must take the bull by the horns and handle the ID properly and identify the NET STATIONS accordingly. If the net actually starts at 23:30 EST, then we should ID on the ZEROS (40 - 50 - 00 and so on). We should also take that ID time to promote the CAM RADIO NET and ask for new check-in. We do not require a NET ROLL-CALL, that is what CAM-RADIO INFO is for. But you must remember, we do not stream audio...our voice is important and required to spread the CAM RADIO NET philosophy. Invite others to join or you will find yourself alone in the dark. Lately there has been more personal talk and less promoting. There has been less ID and no allowance for new stations. Membership drives continue all the time are not done just for the good of the net. We promote for the over-all advancement of our hobby. If you think boredom from round tables are taking it's toll on 75, then imagine what the net sounds like to members who have other interests. The 10 minute ID is required, talking about the same subject every night is not and unless we find some happy medium that makes members feel welcome, we will fail in our first real-time objective...making it fun !!! FAQ: Cam Radio Net chooses NET COORDINATORS over a NET CONTROLLER. Seems to me that NET CONTROLS are going out of style these days. Most of the "round table" groups on 75 Meters are going "free style". Is it just a sign of the time or what ?? Why do we waste all this time and energy on "roll calls" or "73 rounds" ?? The A-TYPICAL 75 meter station has a pair of 3-500Z's idling away while the operator sits and waits for a 2 or 3 minute chance to speak. Meanwhile some fall asleep, some leave for other frequencies while most forget what they wanted to say, or the person they want to talk to has left due to a high level of boredom. The use of a COORDINATOR allows "free style" communications and introduces spontaneity. The net check-in stations have the chance to speak up and that generates and alert group that is not bound to "round table" rules. It simply is more fun !! No one gets upset on CAM RADIO if there is an occasional "double", the COORDINATOR simply asks for a repeat... We are all about having HAM RADIO FUN on CAM RADIO NET...join us on 3820 or 3770 KHz |
